(The Daily Caller) The Coalition of African American Pastors announced Tuesday that it does not agree with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People’s decision to endorse the legalization of same-sex marriage.
CAAP launched a petition last week to oppose broadening the legal definition of marriage.
CAAP says it believes gay Americans should have equal civil rights, but that it does not believe there should be a right to legally marry someone of the same sex.
On behalf of the coalition, Owens said, “We call on all Americans to respect the legitimate civil rights of gay people to be free from violence, harassment, to vote, to hold jobs.”
Owens drew from King’s “Letter From Birmingham Jail” to explain what he believes is the difference between a just and unjust law.
According to Owens, a just law is a man-made code that squares with the law of God, and an unjust law is a code that is out of harmony with moral law.
*WOW! Are these people nuts are what!
It seems like just because the President said he supposts marriage between same-sex couples everyone and their momma is jumping on the banwagon!
Come on give me a break!
We here at Diva's Nation believe that some people have a legitimate opinion and some people are just riding the wave and wanting media attention. President Obama isn't America's Pastor. He is the President of the United States.
People need to realize that first and foremost.
As we know change comes in many forms forums. Most people are oppose to change because they want things to stay the same. It's important that this country does change to some degree. It keeps things fresh, progressing and people on their feet. When change doesn't happen, then ofcourse, we have events like Sept 11th to take place.
Which was very tragic to the whole world.
At the end of the day, just because CAAP is mad about the President supporting a civil union between same sex couples doesn't mean squat! Let's talk about the real issues that many Americans face. Once we can do that, then maybe things will be better for all.*
