Woman gets traffic tickets in Md. deaths!

(AP) The Frederick County Sheriff's Office says it has issued two traffic tickets to a woman who accidentally killed three fellow churchgoers with her car in Emmitsburg in August.

Cpl. Jennifer Bailey said Friday that 63-year-old Mary Camilleri, of Fayetteville, Pa., received citations for unsafe backing and negligent driving.

Bailey says Camilleri was trying to parallel park her Mercury Mountaineer SUV when she struck a group of people leaving St. Joseph's Catholic Church Aug. 12.

Killed were 89-year-old Marian Derosa of Emmitsburg, her daughter Patricia Mauro-Cillo and son-in-law John Cillo.

Bailey says the investigation is now closed.

*All we can say is "WOW!" I can't believe this woman didn't go to prison for this incident. Are people in the Frederick County Sheriff's Office CRAZY, DUMB Or Schizo?!? Truly, if this was anyone else; say, younger, black or what they deem as white trash, their ass would of been convicted in a flash. The tragedy really is, that people died and the families have to suffer. Also, that this lady whose 63 years old may do it again. Again,WOW!

Day care operator faces 4 manslaughter charges!

A Houston day care operator accused of leaving the children she was watching alone when a fire broke out at the facility has been charged with manslaughter in the deaths of four of them, federal officials said Friday.

The U.S. Marshals Service announced in a news release that the new indictments were handed down Thursday by a grand jury in Houston. She had already been charged with seven counts of reckless injury to a child and three counts of abandoning a child.

Authorities believe Tata, 22, a U.S. citizen, fled to Nigeria before she could be charged in the case.

Investigators say Tata was shopping and had left the seven children she was taking care of alone on Feb. 24 when the fire began. They say surveillance video shows she was at a nearby Target store at the time.

Attempts by The Associated Press to contact Tata's family in person and by phone at multiple addresses and telephone listings have been unsuccessful.

Investigators believe the fire was started by a stove top burner that had been left on. Tata told investigators the fire started in the kitchen while she was in the bathroom.

The blaze also injured three other children. Two of the injured children remained hospitalized in good condition Friday at Shiners Hospital for Children in Galveston.

The U.S. Marshals Service, which is leading the search for Tata, has put the day care operator on its list of the 15 most wanted fugitives and has offered a reward of up to $25,000.

Interpol, the international police agency, has alerted its member countries, including Nigeria, telling them that Tata is being sought by the United States.

While the new manslaughter charges have the same possible punishment as reckless injury to a child, up to 20 years in prison, they could help authorities with the extradition process if Tata is found and detained in Nigeria.

While reckless injury to a child and child abandonment are not necessarily covered by the extradition treaty between the United States and Nigeria, manslaughter is covered, said Douglas McNabb, a Houston attorney who specializes in international extradition law.

*This is a sad story about innocence lost. Whoever this "trash of a daycare worker is"; she needs to be found and brought to justice. Leaving kids alone in a daycare to go shopping at target is ridiculous and irresponsible! I'm sure that's why her ass fled to Nigeria to try and escape the charges. In any event, we all know the U.S. doesn't take to kindly to "child killers", so in due time she will be back to the U.S. to spend many years in prison.

If anyone has seen this woman the "Houston daycare child killer"; "JESSICA TATA" please call authories and turn her ass in pronto!

President Obama denounces political spending cuts!

(Reuters) President Barack Obama said on Saturday that spending cuts to narrow the U.S. budget deficit must not be politically motivated or threaten the economy as it climbs out of recession.

Obama's fellow Democrats and Republicans in Congress have been debating how to best narrow the budget shortfall, with Republicans dismissing Democratic plans as far too timid to deal with a deficit projected to hit a record $1.65 trillion this year.

Obama said he was open to more spending cuts, but drew the line at slashing programs in a way that would be a risk to his top priorities -- investment in technological development, education and infrastructure.

"Getting our fiscal house in order can't just be something we use as cover to do away with things we dislike politically. And it can't just be about how much we cut. It's got to be about how we cut and how we invest," Obama said in his weekly radio address, recorded at a Miami high school where he spoke on Friday about the importance of funding for education.

Some Republicans have pushed to cut funding for public broadcasters, criticized by some conservatives as too liberal, or Planned Parenthood family planning centers, which also provide abortions.

Democrats have sought to preserve funding for Obama's landmark healthcare reform law enacted last year and for high priority environmental programs the administration wants.

HOW TO CREATE JOBS

Republicans have made spending cuts their top priority since Tea Party-aligned conservatives helped them win control of the House of Representatives in November.

They say their proposed reductions are essential to trim a dangerous shortfall.

"It (Obama's budget) continues out-of-control spending, it adds to our $14 trillion debt and it adds to the uncertainty that makes it harder to create jobs," Representative Diane Black said in the Republicans' weekly radio address.

"Maintaining the status quo -- and refusing to offer a credible plan to cut spending -- is just unacceptable and inexcusable," Black said.

Obama praised Democrats and Republicans in Congress for agreeing on a two-week spending bill that averted a government shutdown, but said legislators have to come up with a long-term spending plan.

"We can't do business two weeks at a time. It's not responsible, and it threatens the progress our economy has been making. We've got to keep that momentum going," he said.

Vice President Joe Biden met with top Republican and Democratic congressional leaders on Thursday in an opening round of White House-led budget talks.

Obama also cited an encouraging monthly unemployment report released on Friday as evidence that his economic programs, including a tax relief plan supported by both Republicans and Democrats, were working.

The U.S. jobless rate slipped to a nearly two-year low of 8.9 percent in February, showing the economy is finally kicking into a higher gear as private employers hired 222,000 workers, the most since April.

But Obama said more had to be done. "Our top priority right now has to be creating new jobs and opportunities in a fiercely competitive world," Obama said.

*It's always good to recognize when you have a President whose trying to stick to his agenda. Looking at the outlook on jobs, it's still bleek and not enough. Looking at the outlook on education, it's still in the toilet and the worse of the worse. Looking at the outlook on technology, well, that's growing like wild flowers! Looking at the outlook on the federal deficit, well, that's growing like a dead person's hair!

Understanding what has to be done to bring the deficit down is very complicated. The democrats and Republicans will not have a solution in a month. "IT TAKES TIME!"

Seeing the jobless rate slip isn't the whole story. You still have millions of people out of work, and hungry. You still have millions of people pissed off because of layoffs and other under-handed mess going on. You still have Americans worried about their financial outlooks period.

All in all, when it comes to the budget and spending in gov't, it's their responsibility to see it through, but in the right way possible. Not in the way of just the republicans or the democrats, but for the greater good of the American People!

Airlines raising domestic fares again!

(AP) Airfares at major U.S. airlines are climbing again, continuing a dizzying pace of nearly weekly increases on both penny-pinching vacationers and expense-account corporate fliers.

The airlines are raising fares to cover higher jet fuel prices, and the strategy seems to be working. US Airways said Thursday that if the trend toward higher revenue continues, it will be able to cover foreseeable increases in fuel costs.

Jet fuel prices are over $3 a gallon, the second-highest reading in March behind only 2008, when oil prices surged to record levels and U.S. airlines lost billions of dollars.

Delta Air Lines touched off the latest fare hike by adding up to $20 to the price of domestic round-trip flights for tickets bought on short notice. American Airlines choose a more modest increase of $10 per round trip but applied it to virtually all tickets for travel within the 48 contiguous states.

By midday Thursday, Delta, United, Continental and US Airways had all settled on matching American's $10 increase.

None of the low-cost airlines — including Southwest, JetBlue and AirTran — had raised prices, according to Rick Seaney, CEO of FareCompare.com. If they continue to hold out, he said, Delta and the other big airlines could be forced to scale back their increases on some routes. Low-cost airlines have blocked some previous fare hikes by refusing to match them.

Some analysts think if prices go any higher, leisure travelers — and maybe some corporate fliers — will just stay home. Hudson Securities analyst Daniel McKenzie said higher fares will force companies to burn through their travel budgets and freeze or reduce travel later this year.

Seaney doesn't share that view yet. "It is pretty clear that demand hasn't softened enough to prevent airlines from testing new highs for base domestic ticket prices," he said.

US Airways President Scott Kirby said Thursday that travel demand in February remained "exceptionally strong," allowing the company to generate enough revenue to offset higher fuel prices.

Traffic on Kirby's airline rose more than 4 percent and a key measure of revenue per mile rose 10 percent in February, compared with a year ago.

Rising fares, combined with fewer flights and more fees for passengers, helped the airline industry in 2010 post its first moneymaking year since 2007. The government estimates that the country's eight largest airlines are likely to earn more than $5 billion this year and $5.6 billion in 2012.

But while the airlines are making money off the baggage fees, it turns out the resulting increase in the number carry-on luggage is costing taxpayers about a quarter-billion dollars a year.

But Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told Congress this week that the luggage fees have prompted more passengers to hold onto their bags, which means more items for Transportation Security Administration officers to inspect at security checkpoints at a cost of about $260 million annually.

Napolitano was asked whether airlines should help make up for some of the extra costs. Without commenting on the question of airlines paying more, she said an increase in airport security fees — passengers pay up to $5 for each one-way ticket — would bring her department about $600 million a year.

A security fee increase has been proposed nearly every year since it was first introduced in 2002 but
Congress has never approved it.

*Typical for the airlines to raise prices when people are struggling as it is to eat, pay taxes, and plan possible vacations. Of course it's all about the money to these corporate idiots as they don't give a damn about what folks are going through. However, people will still book flights and complain in the process about the continued rising cost.
People flying will never go out of trend, as long as there are deals going on to plan trips and what not. I say that if the airlines keep raising prices and bringing in lots of money, then they can certainly open the floor up for jobs and start hiring.*

CDC: A third of Americans don't sleep 7 hours!

(AP) More than a third of U.S. adults sleep less than seven hours a night, and many of them report troubles concentrating, remembering and even driving.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported the statistics Thursday in two separate studies.

In one study, about 35 percent of people surveyed in 12 states said they slept less than seven hours a night, on average.

The second study based on a national survey found about 23 percent said they had trouble concentrating because they were tired. Another 18 percent struggled to remember things, and 11 percent had difficulty driving or commuting.

The CDC reports: http://www.cdc.gov/mmwr

*Not surprised as more and more Americans are to busy to even get the sleep they need to function. Sleep is important, as it does wonders for our bodies and helps us to replenish what we lost during the day. So many people these days are stressed out due to, not having a job, overdue bills, and kids. Getting the proper sleep takes a back-burner, while continued chaos takes center stage. All in all, if more people valued their resting time then their outlook wouldn't be so down in the dumps.*
