(FWD) There was something enchanting in the air at the Oscar de la Renta showroom where he presented his Spring 2012 bridal collection on Monday, April 11, in New York.

Always one to put on a show and create something awe-inspiring, de la Renta this season set the scene to something you would expect little girls to conjure up if they let their young and vivid imaginations run free.
Always refined of course, these little women could be found hosting a tea party in the garden out back surrounded by freesia and lavender scents as they sip tea, or at least gesture as such, in little white gloves and paint pictures for each other envisioning their fantastical wedding dreams.

With the youthfulness to the collection came an understated elegance that only de la Renta could pervade. Long silhouettes with bodacious skirts composed of ruffles and organza florets gave the illusion of a woman running through a patch of petals as they joined together to adorn her body. Rabbit hair on a white feathered bolero and scarf meshed perfectly with the springtime garden fauna.

Offering something novel to the bridal repertoire, de la Renta utilized the neckline in square shapes and more angular cuts. All 37 designs were white except for a couple of degrade silk organza gowns in pink and a tea length version in pale blue.

NJ woman chides NYC smoker, gets stabbed with pen!

(AP) A New Jersey woman was stabbed in the face with a pen on a New York City subway train after she tried to stop a man from lighting a cigarette.

The assault occurred on a crowded No. 3 train near the Chambers Street station during Tuesday's morning rush.

Witnesses told the Daily News and the New York Post that an argument quickly escalated when Evelyn Seeger asked the man not to smoke. The witnesses say two riders were trying to restrain the man when he pulled out a pen and slashed Seeger's face.

Seeger, of Nutley, N.J., was treated at a hospital and released.

Police charged the man with felony assault and criminal possession of a weapon.


*What in the hell is this woman doing trying to stop anyone from smoking? Is she insane or just plain dumb? Her ass was asking for trouble when she decided to put her two cents in that man's business. Even if the man was trying to light a cigarette, Evelyn Seeger should of just did nothing. OC Republican allegedly sent offensive Obama email!

(AP) A Southern California Republican Party official was under fire Saturday after allegations she sent an email that included an altered photo depicting President Barack Obama as an ape.

An e-mail reportedly sent by party central committee member Marilyn Davenport shows an image, posed like a family portrait, of chimpanzee parents and child, with Obama's face artificially superimposed on the child. Text beneath the photo reads, "Now you know why no birth certificate."

Davenport, when reached by The Associated Press, said she would provide a written statement with her response, but several hours later she had not issued one.

The alternative newspaper OC Weekly first reported the story, and was told by Davenport that the e-mail was "just an Internet joke." She also asked the Weekly, "You're not going to make a big deal about this are you?"

Republican Party of Orange County Chairman Scott Baugh told The Associated Press on Saturday that he wants an ethics investigation into the incident.

"It's just highly inappropriate, it's a despicable message, it drips with racism and I think she should step down from the committee," said Baugh.

Baugh said it could be several days before it's known whether the ethics committee will agree to investigate Davenport.

At the very least, Baugh said, Davenport should be apologizing for what she's done rather than attacking whoever leaked the email to media, referring to an email Davenport sent after the story broke calling on "the coward" who leaked the email to come forward.

Davenport, a tea party activist, represents the 72nd Assembly District in Orange County on the central committee.

She represents Brea, Placentia, Fullerton and portions of other Orange County cities to the county committee tasked with fundraising, campaigning and debating policy for the Republican Party.

Ohioan tells 911 dispatcher he killed wife, 3 kids!

A part-time farmer told a 911 dispatcher that he killed his wife and three young children and was "getting ready to kill myself" inside their farmhouse on land tended by his family for at least four generations.

His grandmother, who lives just steps away, watched through her blinds as deputies swarmed around the house. She desperately tried to reach 31-year-old Alan Atwater by phone just after midnight on Saturday after hearing on a police scanner that her grandson had shot everyone inside.

She then went to the home with the sheriff in hopes they were alive.

"They were all gone," said Joan Atwater.

Deputies in northern Ohio said the bodies of Atwater and the rest of the family were found together with gunshot wounds in an upstairs bedroom. The youngest, 1-year-old Brady, was in a bed. The other children, Ashley, 4, and Isaac, 2, were found on the floor near their mother, Dawn, 30.

The only hint of trouble came recently when Atwater confided in Joan Atwater's husband that he and his wife of five years were having marital problems.

It was nothing, though, that caused any alarm, Joan Atwater said.

"Who doesn't have marital problems," she said, clutching photos of her smiling great-grandchildren. "We'll never know what really brought this on."

Atwater had no criminal record, and the Ottawa County Sheriff's office wasn't aware of any disputes between Atwater and his wife, a stay-at-home mother.

Relatives said that Atwater could have turned to plenty of family members for help nearby. At least four live within sight of their farmhouse.

A sign on an old wooden barn behind the house bears the family name. Around the corner, another red barn reads "D. Atwater 1904."

Atwater helped his grandmother's husband often around the farm and would come over to their house to help fix her computer. They had just been together the night before, she said.

She described him as a smiling, "happy-go-lucky kid" who kept any troubles to himself.

The 911 call came in just after midnight, the sheriff's office said.

"There has been a terrible accident at my house. My wife and three children are dead," Alan Atwater said in a calm, steady voice in the 911 call, according to the sheriff's office. He told the dispatcher he had shot them.

Deputies arrived within minutes at the farmhouse in Oak Harbor, about 25 miles southeast of Toledo. They didn't enter the home until two hours later, after they'd tried to contact the people inside by phone and through a loudspeaker.

The farmhouse, with a wooden swing set in the yard and two small utility barns, sits next to a field and in the shadows of the Davis-Besse nuclear plant, where Alan Atwater worked in the maintenance department.

Authorities said there was no indication anyone else was involved or that the killings were planned, and they were not sure Saturday whether Atwater left any type of note.


*This is truly sad! This guy shot his family and then offed himself. It's sad when you feel that's your only way out of any problem. The saddest part of this whole tragedy is the kids; they surely didn't deserve to die the way they did. So sad.

It's Officially "Over" for JaMarcus!

(NBC News) Getting cut just three years after being the No. 1 pick in the NFL is bad enough.

Losing your house to foreclosure and getting arrested for sipping illegal "purple drank" only makes things worse.

But despite all that there was still some hope for JaMarcus Russell. The once future of the Oakland Raiders still had a few people who believed in him, most importantly John Lucas.

The former basketball player and coach has been known to take an interest in athletes who need help. He has mentored drug offenders and just those lacking motivation.

In Russell, Lucas got a little bit of both. He took Russell under his wing and tried to get the player's ballooning weight under control.

He went on Showtime's "Inside the NFL" and tried to show the Russell was working out, getting ready for a comeback to the NFL.

But a lack of interest from the NFL and a lack of motivation from Russell, Lucas has finally given up on Russell.

Yahoo's Jason Cole reports that one source close to the matter said Lucas has asked Russell to leave Houston and has said he no longer wants to work with the quarterback.

The source told Cole the title of his article should be "it’s over."

When Lucas gives up on you things really are over. And when no one in the NFL wants to even meet with you, it really is over.

Justin Bieber under siege in Israel!

(Reuters) – Justin Bieber is not getting much spiritual peace on his eagerly anticipated visit to Israel.

The Canadian teen idol bitterly complained on Tuesday that paparazzi had ruined his visits to holy sites, saying on Twitter that he was "super frustrated" by the intrusions.

His mood was not helped by a newspaper report that a proposed meeting with Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu fell through after the singer allegedly refused to meet with invited children from a region affected by enemy rockets.

Bieber's camp denied that he had snubbed the youngsters or Netanyahu, saying that the meeting had never been finalized. At any rate, Bieber had already invited children from the region bordering Gaza to be special guests at his show in Tel Aviv on Thursday, a spokesman said.

Israeli newspaper Haaretz said Netanyahu canceled the meeting over Bieber's unwillingness to meet the children, but a government official was more circumspect.

"The prime minister was approached to meet with Justin Bieber. The prime minister was open to the idea and wanted to bring children from southern Israel in order for them to have an enjoyable experience. In the end, it was unfortunately not possible," the Israeli official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

For his part, Bieber said on Twitter, "I want to see this country and all the places I've dreamed of and whether its the paps or being pulled into politics it's been frustrating." (Reuters has fixed some of the grammar.)

According to the London-based Jewish Chronicle, the 17-year-old practicing Christian was also scheduled to tour the Dead Sea, Masada and Caesarea.

But in an earlier series of missives, Bieber said aggressive photographers had forced him to spend the rest of his trip holed up in his hotel room.

"You would think paparazzi would have some respect in holy places," wrote Bieber. "All I wanted was the chance to walk where Jesus did here in Israel."

"They should be ashamed of themselves. Take pictures of me eating but not in a place of prayer, ridiculous ... People wait their whole lives for opportunities like this, why would they want to take that experience away from someone ... Staying in the hotel for the rest of the week u happy?"

After his concert for upwards of 25,000 fans at Hayarkon Park in the bustling city, he will likely face another round of paparazzi when he begins an Asian-Pacific swing in Malaysia on April 21.

Malcolm X's daughters unhappy with new book!

(AP) Two of Malcolm X's daughters are unhappy that a new biography alleges their parents' marriage was strained and that their mother — and possibly their father — were unfaithful.

The marriage "was definitely faithful and devoted because my father was a man of impeccable integrity, and I think that most people, if they're not clear on anything, they're clear that he was moral and ethical and had impeccable character," Ilyasah Shabazz said Wednesday.

Ilyasah and Malaak Shabazz spoke to The Associated Press about "Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention." Author Manning Marable, a highly respected scholar who worked for more than 20 years on the book, died last week of complications of pneumonia just before publication. Malcolm X's daughters did not speak to Marable for the book, which draws upon thousands of interviews, government documents and private papers.

The book has been in the top 10 on Amazon.com's best-seller list, and the print run has been increased from 46,000 to 70,000, according to Viking, an imprint of Penguin Group (USA).

Viking spokeswoman Carolyn Coleburn said the publisher had no comment about the daughters' criticisms.

While both sisters acknowledged they have yet to read the book, they questioned reports about the contents. Marable had intended "Malcolm X" as a tribute to the slain activist's life and influence, but he also wanted to avoid portraying him as "a saint, without the normal contradictions and blemishes that all human beings have," as the historian wrote in the introduction.

Malcolm X was assassinated in 1965. His wife, Betty Shabazz, died in 1997 after one of her grandchildren set fire to her apartment.

The book alleges that parts of "The Autobiography of Malcolm X," a classic released after Malcolm X's death that sold more than 1 million copies, were inaccurate. For instance, Marable questions details of Malcolm X's early life as a criminal, writing that Malcolm likely exaggerated his wrongdoings. Questions about the autobiography's accuracy have been raised for decades, and Marable addresses questions about the book's co-writer, Alex Haley, who many believe left out or softened Malcolm's more radical political views in the last couple of years of his life.

He also looks into Malcolm X's more controversial words and actions, including a meeting with members of the Ku Klux Klan in the early 1960s. At the time, he was a high-ranking member of the Nation of Islam and had discussed with the Klan the possibility of the nation purchasing land for blacks to live on. Malcolm X would later express regret, although Marable still called the meeting "despicable."

Marable subtitled the book "A Life of Reinvention" in part because Malcolm X acknowledged mistakes and transformed and transcended himself, from street hustler and convict to black separatist of fierce anti-white opinions to political and social activist seeking to work with all races, worldwide. His marriage, however, was widely seen as steady, close and supportive, especially as dramatized by Denzel Washington and Angela
Bassett in Spike Lee's movie "Malcolm X." Shabazz herself would remember her years with Malcolm as "hectic, beautiful and unforgettable — the greatest thing in my life."

Malcolm X married Betty Sanders, a nurse and fellow member of the Nation of Islam, in 1958. They had six children. According to the book, the marriage was often tense, in part because of Malcolm's wish to have a traditional, subservient Muslim wife and because he was away so often and his life was often threatened.

There were problems of emotional and physical intimacy. Marable includes a letter from Malcolm to Nation of Islam leader Elijah Muhammad that offers a blunt account of their home life, with Malcolm reporting that his wife believed they were "incompatible sexually." Malcolm also tells Muhammad that Betty had threatened to "seek satisfaction elsewhere."

Marable writes that Betty became involved in 1964 with Charles Kenyatta, a close associate of Malcolm's. Malcolm, too, may have had affairs, although the evidence is uncertain. He knew of the relationship between his wife and Kenyatta, according to the book, and "the news of infidelity seems to have loosened Malcolm's own marital bonds."

Malaak Shabazz said there "may have been a little bit of stress, like any marriage," but that "there was really no times for shenanigans. She raised the children at home; he worked on a global level."

Ashley Judd Blasts Snoop Dogg and Diddy For Misogynist Lyrics!

Actress Ashley Judd holds nothing back in her new memoir, All That is Bitter and Sweet. In an excerpt that ran on Radar Online, she writes that she has beef with awareness campaign YouthAIDS (where she serves as an ambassador) linking with Snoop Dogg and Diddy.

“YouthAIDS created hip public service announcements for TV and radio using popular local and international celebrities and athletes and was participating in the MTV World AIDS Day ‘Staying Alive’ concerts,” she wrote. “Along with other performers, YouthAIDS was supported by rap and hip-hop artists like Snoop Dogg and P. Diddy to spread the message...um, who? Those names were a red flag. As far as I’m concerned, most rap and hip-hop music—with its rape culture and insanely abusive lyrics and depictions of girls and women as ‘hos’—is the contemporary soundtrack of misogyny.”

*This is very interesting how actress/author Ashley Judd is blasting Snoop an Diddy about lyrics in their music. I think she needs to bring it down a notch and think about what she's saying and doing.  Maybe if she would chat it up with them, she would find that it's not as bad as she's making it out to be. I get the fact that rap music talks about women being this and that and the other. I also get that, it's all an act and a way to make the music sound interesting. Instead of judging these men, she may need to talk them more and see how they can work together to set a good example. Bristol Palin earns $262K for teen pregnancy work!

(AP) Tax documents show unwed mother Bristol Palin earned more than $262,000 for her role in helping raise awareness for teen pregnancy prevention in 2009.

The most recent data for The Candie's Foundation that's posted online by research firm GuideStar shows compensation at $262,500 for the now-20-year-old daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee.

Bristol Palin was 18 when she was appointed as a teen ambassador for the New York-based foundation in 2009, months after giving birth to son, Tripp. She and the 2-year-old boy's father, Levi Johnston, are no longer together.

Palin family attorney John Tiemessen and foundation officials did not immediately return calls for comment Tuesday.

Palin, who still works for the foundation, told The Associated Press last year that girls would think twice about having sex if they knew how tough it is to be a mother. She said she "wasn't prepared at all" for the dramatic changes in her life since becoming a mom.

"I don't think anyone realizes how difficult it really is until you actually have a screaming baby in your arms and you're up all night," Palin said.

When she was first named to the ambassador role, Palin said in a statement she felt she could be a living example of the consequences of teen pregnancy.

"If I can prevent even one girl from getting pregnant, I will feel a sense of accomplishment," she said at the time.

Days after Sen. John McCain picked Sarah Palin to be his running mate in 2008, Bristol Palin's pregnancy was announced. Sarah Palin has not ruled out a run from president in 2012.

The Candie's Foundation is a division of the apparel brand Candie's. It has been raising awareness about teen pregnancy since 2001.

This is why we have shows like MTV's Teen Mom, and docu's that glorify teen pregnancy like's it's the next big trend. 

However, you slice Bristol Palin and all, teen pregnancy isn't going anywhere, even if there's a Bristol Palin going around and spitting her rhetoric about how bad it is and how she so-called made it through all while raking in a whopping "262k."

Lu Zhihao, world's heaviest 4-year-old!

Lu Zhihao, who is 3 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 136 lbs, put on weight dramatically since his appetite grew when he was 3 months old. His worried parents took him to several hospitals, but the reason for his obesity remains unknown, though it is possibly due to his dietary habit, according to local media.

Sheen to take Chicago stage after Detroit failure!

(AP-OMG) Charlie Sheen was heckled, booed and eventually abandoned by the crowd at his inaugural stage show, with many of the audience members chanting "refund" and heading for the exits even before the show abruptly ended.

Winning? Not on opening night.

The first stop on Sheen's "My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not an Option" 20-city variety show tour started Saturday night in Detroit with thunderous applause but ended 70 minutes later. In between, Sheen tried to appease his audience with rants, a rapper and a question and answer session, ultimately concluding the first show was "an experiment."

Now Chicago's audience is wondering what will come of his second show, set for Sunday evening at the historic 3,600-seat Chicago Theatre. The Chicago Theater box office says the show is sold out, though tickets are listed for sale elsewhere online.

The former "Two and a Half Men" star learned firsthand at Detroit's 5,100-seat Fox Theatre that show business still requires a show. The debacle called into question the fate of the nascent tour. Some fans already predicted a premature end for the month-long trek.

"No way" the show makes it through all the dates, said Bob Orlowski, a lawyer from Plymouth, Mich., who watched with six clients in a suite.

"He's not suited for this," said Orlowski, 46. "It wasn't funny."

Sheen's publicist, Larry Solters, declined to comment after the show. Sheen, 45, reappeared after the house lights went up to thank the hundreds who remained.

It wasn't clear when Sheen lost the audience, but there were many awkward moments.

Sheen, known for his wild partying and rampant drug use, said he thought Detroit would be a good place to tell some stories about crack cocaine. The remark prompted loud, immediate boos.

At another point, Sheen showed a short film he wrote, directed and produced years ago called "RPG." He sat in the front row to watch the flick, which starred a much younger Johnny Depp. Again, more boos.

But the show actually started off with a bang.

After a video montage of movie clips — Sheen in "Wall Street" and "Platoon" set to a guitar solo from Sheen friend Rob Patterson — the star emerged to raucous applause and a standing ovation. The cheering increased as the women he calls his "goddesses" took the stage.

The two women, a former porn star and an actress who live with him, carried placards with the words "War" and "Lock," a reference to Sheen's recent description of himself.

When the goddesses locked lips in front of him, Sheen smirked. He had the crowd in the palm of his hand.

"I don't see a single empty seat," he said.

That quickly changed.
 
As the showed bogged down, an audience member booed, prompting Sheen to reply, "I've already got your money, dude."
 
Things only got worse.
 
"Tonight's an experiment," he said.
 
For some, it was an expensive experiment.
 
Linda Fugate, who paid $150 for two seats, left the theater and walked up the street, yelling, "I want my money back!"
 
"I was hoping for something. I didn't think it would be this bad," said Fugate, a 47-year-old from Lincoln Park, Mich.
 
Fans who arrived at the theater — some flying in for the show — said they were hoping to see the increasingly eccentric actor deliver some of the colorful rants that have made him an Internet star since his ugly falling out with CBS and the producers of "Two and a Half Men."
 
They got the ranting. It just wasn't funny.
 
"Brutal. I expected him to at least entertain a little bit," said Rodney Gagnon, 34, of Windsor, Ontario.
Some saw something between victory and defeat.
 
Geoff Rezek, 69, a computer consultant from Darien, Conn., who met Sheen after the concert and received a poster, said the show needed work, but was salvageable. He believes Sheen is a consummate showman who took a risk.
 
"I wouldn't miss the first show. Who knows if there's going to be a second show?" Rezek said, perhaps prophetically. He also bought a ticket for Sheen's performance next week in Connecticut.
 
Sheen has made headlines in recent years as much for his drug use, failed marriages, custody disputes and run-ins with the police, as for his acting. Martin Sheen has compared his son's struggle with addiction to a cancer patient's struggle for survival.
 
In August, the wayward star pleaded guilty in Aspen, Colo., to misdemeanor third-degree assault after a Christmas Day altercation with his third wife, Brooke Mueller. The couple have since finalized their divorce.
 
Charlie Sheen's behavior, which included lashing out at "Two and a Half Men" producer Chuck Lorre, finally became too much for Warner Bros. Television, which fired him March 7.
 
Sheen fired back with a $100 million lawsuit and all-out media assault in which he informed the world about his standing as a "rock star from Mars" with "Adonis DNA."
 
After one of the sustained booing moments, Sheen tried to calm the crowd.

*Charlie Sheen is clearly a disaster and we all know it.  For people to expect him to be an outstanding performer without a script in hand is ridiculous!  What's happening is; Charlie Sheen is trying to capitalize off of his drug induced mess and people are buying right into it. It makes no sense for anyone to support and enable a drug addict.

I am disappointed that so many people bought tickets to see an idiot like Charlie Sheen to begin with. He clearly can't improvise without a script and also he's always high on some drug. 

So; shame on all of you who bought tickets to see Sheen's dry drama. At the end of the day, most of you got scammed big time.*

Anger over Quran burning spreads in Afghanistan!

(AP) Anger over the burning of the Muslim holy book at a Florida church fueled a second day of deadly violence half a world away in Afghanistan, where demonstrators set cars and shops ablaze Saturday in a riot that killed nine protesters, officials said.

The church's desecration of the Quran nearly two weeks ago has outraged millions of Muslims and others worldwide, fueling anti-American sentiment that is further straining ties between the Afghan government and the West.

The uproar even brought violence to the normally peaceful northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif on Friday, when a crowd of protesters — apparently infiltrated by insurgents — stormed a U.N. compound in an outpouring that left four Afghan protesters and seven foreign U.N. employees dead.

The top U.N. envoy in Afghanistan, Staffan de Mistura, said the organization had no plans to evacuate. It would, however, temporarily redeploy 11 staff members from Maraz-i-Sharif to Kabul
"This is not an evacuation, it is a temporary redeployment because the office is not functioning. We will be ready to go back as soon as we can establish an office that is secure enough," he told reporters.

In an unrelated attack that nonetheless demonstrated the kind of violence plaguing Afghanistan nearly a decade after the U.S. invaded to oust the Taliban and hunt al-Qaida, two suicide attackers disguised as women in blue burqas blew themselves up and a third was gunned down at a NATO base on the outskirts of Kabul, police said.

The Quran was burned March 20, but many Afghans only found out about it when Afghan President Hamid Karzai condemned the desecration four days later. The burning took place at the Dove Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, the same church where the Rev. Terry Jones had threatened to destroy a copy of the holy book last year but initially backed down.

On Saturday, thousands of Afghans carrying long sticks and holding copies of the Quran over their heads marched through Kandahar, the largest city in southern Afghanistan and the cradle of the insurgency. The crackle of gunfire could be heard throughout the city, which was blanketed by thick black smoke.

Security forces shot in the air to disperse the crowd, said Zalmai Ayubi, a spokesman for the provincial governor. It's unclear how the protesters were slain, he said.

The governor's office in Kandahar province issued a statement saying that nine protesters were killed and 81 others were injured in the demonstration that turned into a riot. Seventeen people, including seven armed men, have been arrested, the statement said.

The governor's office claims demonstrators were incited by extremists who joined the group and set property ablaze.

"The enemies of the people and country also burned down the furniture and a bus at a ladies' high school in Kandahar and destroyed some other properties," the governor's office said.

Shops and restaurants throughout the city were shuttered and routes leading into the city were blocked by security forces.

An Associated Press photographer estimated the crowd at a few thousand and said demonstrators had smashed his camera and roughed up other journalists.

Karzai's office said the president spoke on the telephone Saturday morning with U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Karzai asked the secretary-general to extend his condolences to the families of the U.N. workers slain Friday.

He also called on the U.N. to help promote religious tolerance throughout the world to ease friction between people of different faiths. Karzai said Afghan officials were investigating the U.N. attack and would bring the perpetrators to justice.

De Mistura said four Nepalese guards were killed protecting the U.N. staff and did not fire their guns.
 
The other three victims were identified by officials in their home countries as: Joakim Dungel, a 33-year-old Swede; Lt. Col. Siri Skare, a 53-year-old female pilot from Norway; and Filaret Motco, a 43-year-old Romanian who worked in the political section of the U.N.
 
The U.N. envoy said the Russian mission chief, who spoke Dari, was beaten but let go after he told the attackers he was Muslim.
 
According to de Mistura, a group of seven to 15 insurgents had infiltrated the protest, which numbered around 3,000 people, and said some have been arrested.
 
"I am profoundly sad and I am also shocked by what I saw, but we do continue our work, we are not going to be deterred," De Mistura said, describing the Quran burning as "an insane gesture."
 
In Florida, Wayne Sapp, a pastor at the church, called the events "tragic," but said he did not regret the actions of his church.
 
"I in no way feel like our church is responsible for what happened," Sapp said in a telephone interview on Friday. Afghan authorities suspect insurgents melded into the mob outside the U.N. compound and they announced the arrest of more than 20 people, including a militant they suspect was the ringleader of the assault. The suspect was an insurgent from Kapisa province, a hotbed of militancy about 250 miles (400 kilometers) southeast of the city, said Rawof Taj, deputy provincial police chief.
 
Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid sent a text message to The Associated Press on Saturday denying that the insurgency was responsible for killing the U.N. workers.
 
Demonstrators have alleged that the four protesters were killed by Afghan security forces.
Interior Ministry spokesman Zemeri Bashary said Saturday that a delegation of high-ranking Afghan officials was being sent to the city to investigate what happened.
 
Bashary also gave reporters details of Saturday's attack on NATO's Camp Phoenix, a base on the east side of Kabul that's used to train Afghan security forces.
 
He said three armed insurgents wearing suicide bomb vests arrived at a main gate at the base around 6:45 a.m. Two of the attackers opened fire and then detonated their vests of explosives, Bashary said. The third opened fire and was killed by NATO forces. The body of a fourth person, an Afghan man at the scene, has not been identified. Three NATO service members were injured, the coalition said.

The gate at the base was scorched from the explosions. An AP reporter at the scene saw the remains of at least one of the attackers dangling from the gate.


*I have to say; people believe what they want to believe. If those folks in FL don't believe in the Quran or the Muslim Holy Book; then so be it!

I think folks in Afganistan shouldn't get their muslim undies in a bunch over this! People say they will burn the bible all the time, but most of us don't get destructive an tear things up.  I think those folks in Afganistan are just wired to think Americans are bad people no matter what. Most of the world probably feels the same way to some degree.

It's important for those muslims to note, that all us Americans aren't bad people. Certain people feel a certain way and that is that. If anything those muslims in Afganistan should build a bridge and get over it; because the burning of the quran will take place in American society no matter.*

I'm not sure I'm buying the one about the elementary school teacher or the contruction manager.  With the way the economy is right now, and budgets being very tight; is it really likely that those two are hot careers of the future.
